Advanced algorithms don’t matter if they are not moved from theory to practice. We wrote an early-warning crowding software and documented it’s performance in detecting future crowding in a large Nordic combined emergency department.

Over the last few years, time series forecasting has experienced a revolution of machine learning over conventional statistical models. We showed that advanced machine learning outperforms benchmarks with emergency department data as well.
